Sensory Play Sessions For Parents
Who have children with challenging needs
Sessions led by Katherine Jordan (Ma MBACP)
Adults need to play tooo!! Which is why we are going to be offering small group sessions in the sensory play room for adults. We understand that the daily demand of having a child with challenging needs can be deeply overwhelming. Therefore we are offering these sessions as a space to nurture and support you, so you can be looked after for a while. These sessions are for parents only.
We will explore different senses in each session, and give you the chance to relax in the space and explore all of the different ways you can experience sensory soothing, to support your well-being. We will also have space for sharing.
We are aiming to offer evening and daytime sessions. The cost is £20 for 90 minute session, with a maximum of 5 participants at a time. The sessions will be supported by one of our highly qualified therapists, and will include time to share and receive support from the therapist and the group.

Each week will be based around a different story. We will use the room, props and toys to tell the story as well as explore our sensory through play. Each activity will link with the EYFS to support the child's development.
We will use makaton and symbols where possible. Lots of songs/music and movement and communication.
Each session will be with 1 parent and 1 child, with a maximum of 4 sets per session. Sessions will be during the day in term time.
We are currently offering a taster session on Monday 30th September 11.30-1.30pm.
The cost for the session is £15
