Support Sessions for Parents Alongside Children / Adolescent Support Sessions

It’s crucial for families to be involved when a child or young person goes through therapy with us. At Therapeutic Support Services, we believe in working closely together to achieve the best outcomes for your child while addressing the challenges your family may facing at home. 

How We Work With Families - Parent Support Sessions
​To ensure effective collaboration, we offer separate sessions for parents/guardians/carers alongside the sessions for your child. These sessions provide an opportunity to:
  • Regular zoom meetings with your therapist and supervisor, to explore how things are going at home.
  • Check in and discuss how things are going as your child goes through therapy.
  • Explore any changes you or your child maybe experiencing as your child progresses through therapy.
  • Offer guidance and support with challenges occurring at home.

Flexible Approach
We’ll work with you to agree on a session ratio that suits your family’s needs (typically 6:1 child-to-parent sessions) during the initial meeting process.

If you're seeking one-to-one support beyond your child's therapy, Katherine offers Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy sessions tailored to your individual needs. With over 25 years of experience in Children and Young People's Services, Katherine has devoted much of her career to providing family support.
These sessions offer a safe, nurturing space where you can explore personal challenges, strengthen resilience, and develop mindfulness-based strategies to navigate family dynamics and everyday pressures effectively. This personalised support is designed to help you feel empowered and supported in your journey.

Family Therapeutic Support Sessions 

*Supporting Families Through Stressful TimesWe understand that family life can be incredibly demanding, and the pressures on parents are constantly increasing. In recent years, mental health challenges for children and adolescents have more than doubled, while access to social and systemic support has significantly decreased. The pandemic added further strain to family dynamics, making it easy to fall into patterns of poor communication that leave everyone feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.

At Therapeutic Support Services, we provide professional support at the right time to help families get to the root of their difficulties. Our sessions offer:
  • Practical tools and strategies to improve communication.
  • Techniques to strengthen bonds and foster connection as a family.

With over 25 years of experience working with children, young people, and families, we are also equipped to assist with:

  • Referrals for additional services or assessments.
  • Professional letters of support for schools and other services
  • Signposting to other sources of support when needed.

Flexible and Accessible Support
We offer in-person sessions in our therapy room in Paignton, Devon, as well as online sessions via Zoom for those unable to attend face-to-face appointments. Our support can be short-term or long-term, depending on your family’s needs.
We typically recommend meeting regularly—whether weekly, fortnightly, or monthly—for as long as support is required. Together, we’ll work towards a point where you feel confident and capable to continue independently.

* For upto 4 family members. Any additions maybe incur additional cost
